Hans Herzog Chardonnay 2009
- Region: Marlborough
- Tasting Notes: The epitome of elegance – a true winemaker’s wine. Defined by tremendously concentrated ripe fruit flavours balanced by an elegant structure, rich texture and great complexity. This Burgundian-like treasure is one to savour for many years to come.
We picked our Chardonnay on the 30th of March 2009 at a tiny low yield of just 630g per vine.
After gentle whole bunch pressing, the wine was transferred to 500 litre oak puncheons for an initial wild yeast fermentation followed by a secondary, malolactic fermentation. The wine was then left to age on its fine lees, with regularly stirring, for a period of 14 months.
