Wines from great little vineyards.

Sensational Spanish Tasting

Hola!~

la-nieta-large.jpgThere are some formidable and oustandingly delicious wines coming out of Spain right now and having sampled some ourselves, we had to invite Matt Dellar, who has a great knowledge & passion for this country's wine, to put together an amazing tasting table for you!

This is our last call as spaces are almost taken up around our 'long table' and with an all inclusive price of $99.00 including a generous tasting of each of seven sensational wines and a generous plate of three delectable cheeses from our friends at jones the grocer, we are looking forward to a sensational session!

There will also be a 'one night only' special offer on all wines presented too!

Kick Off will be at 6.30pm, Friday 17th SeptemberPlease respond to this email if you would like to attend or call Simon on 021 627 326 / 09 529 0935

Cheers and here's the lowdown on what we'll be trying...................

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN - SPAIN’S GREATEST WINES, FROM HER THREE GREATEST REGIONS!

gran-cruor3.jpgPRIORAT "Spain's most expensive wine comes from a region that barely existed 15 years ago. I have long thought that a good Priorat is one of the most obviously terroir-driven wines in the world.” Jancis Robinson MW

1. Casa Gran del Siurana Priorat Gran Cruor 2006 - Trophy for Best Northern Spanish Red - Decanter World Wine Awards2010

TORO "Spain's hottest wine region boasts big names, big money and big wines.” Wine Spectator

2. Teso La Monja Toro Victorino 2007 - 92/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate  “A glass-coating opaque purple color, it is bigger, more structured, and more concentrated.” / 94/100 Peñín Guide

RIOJA "Rioja has been Spain's premier red-wine region for more than a century.” Wine Spectator

3. Viñedos De Páganos Rioja El Puntido 2006 - 94/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. “Dense, round and smooth-textured, this opulent effort is loaded with luscious fruit and has structure to evolve for 6-8 years. Drink from 2016 to 2026.”

ééééé John Radford, The Wines of Rioja “Breathtaking”

4. Señorio de San Vicente Rioja San Vicente 2006 - 93/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “Opulent and rich on the palate with layers of succulent fruit, it should be at its best from 2016 to 2026.”
93/100 Wine Spectator
éééééJohn Radford, Wines of Rioja “High expression wine of the first order:
Among the 10 best reds in Spain

privada2.jpg5. Bodegas Sierra Cantabria Rioja Coleccion Privada 2007 - 94/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “It offers up a sexy, kinky, exceptionally perfumed nose. Opulent and succulently-fruited on the palate, this already complex wine will blossom over the next 5-6 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2027, if not longer.”

And to round off the evening......................RIOJA’S GREATEST WINES....................................

la-nieta-small.jpg6. Viñedos De Páganos La Nieta Rioja 2007 - 95/100 Wine Spectator “This powerful red is deceptively accessible. Though plush, this has plenty of well-integrated tannin for structure”
95/100 Wine Enthusiast

7. Sierra Cantabria Rioja Amancio 2006 - 95+/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “Very intense and exceptionally lengthy, it will benefit from 6-8 years of cellaring and drink well from 2017 to 2031, if not longer.”
95/100 Wine Spectator
95/100 Wine Enthusiast
