Wines from great little vineyards.

Providence - Matakana

When James Vuletic established Providence Vineyard in 1990, his aim was to make the best Bordeaux style wine outside France.

A high ambition indeed, but his sights narrowed on producing a wine with the finesse and scent of his favourite claret – Cheval Blanc, with impressive success.

His wines have had a high presence in markets overseas - to critical acclaim – and now his focus is to make it more readily available here in New Zealand.

The short pruned, un-irrigated vines are meticulously looked after and neither fertilizers nor herbicides are used. Natural yeasts are utilized for fermentation, and, dependant on vintage the wine will be matured for upto 2 years in new French Oak.

ProvidenceThese wines have a history of ageing well, which reflects the Bordeaux aspirations, and have a natural, unforced quality, which coincides with the desire to make wines ‘approachable when young, but with the constitution to develop for a decade or more’.

If you’re a Bordeaux fan, you’ll love it. 5 stars.
