Ma Maison - Martinborough
Marjory and Edward Leung are obsessed with this grape variety. So much so that in 1995 they bought 8 acres of Martinborough land and intensely planted the site. As you might expect from a vineyard we choose to represent, Marjory and Edward’s philosophy is minimal intervention, hand crafted, low cropped (about 1 to 1.5 tonnes/acre) vines that are meticulously maintained. The result is a wine that reflects the unique terroir of this single vineyard site – elegant, balanced but with underlying power and complexity. We believe it is without doubt, the best value Pinot Noir of this style, from the North of New Zealand. The reserve wines Sabrina and Saffron are up there with some of the best wines I have ever tasted out of the region of Martinborough and are truly revolutionary. They have also planted a small number of Chardonnay vines – the Mendoza clone and this wine is quite exceptional too. We look forward to sharing this wine with you.
